The Ballad of Feisty J
I wrote this mixture of fact and fantasy around 1991 about a girl I worked with in LA, Jane Lok originally from the Bay area. But she didn't like me or my poetry. Such is life. 😊
The Ballad of Feisty J
Now hear me tell of a Northern belle
by the name of Feisty J
Who late at night when the stars were alight
would stride about in the Bay
No guns she wore as she always swore
she could kill by the lash of her wits
By the rising sun they'd be dead every one
who refused to call it quits
Then along came a guy with a glint in his eye
known only as Bearded Pete
Who wanted his way with Feisty J
and told her so on the street
She stared him down with a puzzled frown
then let rip with a fearsome crack
It pierced his heart – one more blown apart
whom she knew would never come back
She worked with a crew, some old some new
with a will worked Feisty J
Then through Fate's odd toss she became their boss
though she was as surprised as they
As it came to pass she just kicked some more ass
and bit by bit found her feet
Until that day when the gods looked away
and back came Bearded Pete
She took him in with his covered-up grin
and looked him up and down
She could see he were feared by his trembling beard
but still he stood his ground
She was so amazed that he wasn't fazed
she stood for a moment struck dumb
Then he threw back his head and proudly said
“It's time, Feisty J, I've come”
She swivelled her hips and licked her lips
and looked at him askance
“I'm Feisty J of 'Frisco Bay
and no man's gonna get in my pants!”
They came together, denim 'gainst leather
she taunted him some more
Then he lifted his wrist and cocked his fist
and cracked her hard on the jaw
“Oh God,” she thought, “this man I've sought
could it be that it's Bearded Pete?”
As she fell in the dust, overcome by his lust
her resolve crumpled up at his feet
He took her aswoon to the local saloon
and threw her down on the bed
She moaned in pain, so he threw her again
“Now we're even, dear Feisty,” he said
Their passion arose as they threw off their clothes
'twas like digging up long-buried treasure
They made love all day till the urge went away
then did it all night for good measure
They finally wed although everyone said
they're an odd-looking couple together
But Feisty and Pete thought it all rather neat
and decided to make it forever
