The Ocean Is A Place
he said he’d prefer to stay far enough away from the ocean
and its crashing waves, and I couldn’t help but laugh to myself
because prior to him, I dove right into the abyss,
collected in the form of two eyes,
swirling like tsunamis and hurricanes,
consisting of heartache and regret.
he said the sea was no friend of his,
and I wondered if he could still see the beauty,
in shades of blue. oh, how I still struggled to.
I wonder to myself when the nights are quiet
if he might still journey to a beach with soft sands,
and gently cradle my hand with his hand, and dip his toes in,
delighted and in-love,not even with me,
but simply the sea.
and when I look at his smile,
I’ll drown out your face,
and remember that the ocean is a place,
and not a person to disgrace.
