Black Friday
The day after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday,
Yet we shop even though all we want to do is lay.
We recovered, we've rested, and for some odd reason we want to get tired again.
Through shopping we stand in line and in pain.
We wonder to ourselves, "why did I get out in the first place?"
But then you think about the looks on Christmas morning of the little faces.
All the fighting for that one toy was enough reason to go shopping,
For that one toy is all your child wants and not any other thing.
Then you move on to shopping for the older members in your clan,
And it becomes addictive, because with Christmas shopping you've become a big fan.
Then you think about the Christmas tree, the presents and the house' lights.
For you are glad at what you foresee since you've experienced Christmas Eve on last year's night.
So you don't mind you have to stand in long lines.
You don't mind the scent of a pine.
And you don't care that you'll have to throw away the wrapping.
Because it's about your family, not you, and in thinking that you sing.
