October 21 (Jack Kerouac Died Today) - (Original Poetry)

Jack Kerouac died today
At home in St. Petersburg
It was back in 1969
In case you haven’t heard
Jean-Louis, I’ll pay my respects to you
For a moment in time
I’ll share a drink of Johnny Walker Red
Or maybe even a bottle of wine
Ti Jean, since I’ve been respectful
And we’ve shared a drink or two
Maybe before you leave tonight
You can teach me to write like you
Jack Kerouac died today
It was 49 years ago
If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to bed now
With my copy of On the Road

This is so you. Go climb that god damn mountain!
I first met Dean not long after my wife and I split up...
