NEVER DATE A POET

Never fall for a poet,
For you'll hear 'love'
When he says 'hate',
And he'll call you 'ugly'
By saying 'you're beautiful'.

He'll seem to have an aircraft,
When he's only got wordcraft,
That with pen, he'd conjure you into frail and daft
By the magic mightier than witchcraft.

With many stanzas, he'd ask you out,
With many more, he'd opt himself out.
He will, today, see 'the joys in the future us',
But tomorrow, see 'the sorrows of our being together'.

He'd make rhymes with your name,
And cunningly playing his game,
In your mind, get enough fame.
But your heart, he'd make lame.
The wooer and jilter would be the same.

When he says 'attracts',
Listen well, for he's saying 'retracts'.
And when he says 'charming',
Listen well, for he's saying 'harming'.

He says 'of course',
But are you sure it isn't a word of curse?
He says 'you have to come first',
But are you sure it isn't 'you have to come flirt'?

Date a man!
He'll say what he means,
And mean what he says.
Date a poet!
He'll move you through the throne to the thorns,
And drive you through paradise to hell.
For God created man, woman, animals and bees,
He also created skies, waters, firmament and seas,
But who created poets?
