The Heart of Innocence

In the hush of twilight's embrace, where shadows play and dance,
There lies a realm of innocence, where children find their chance.
A trust so pure, it shames the stars, in parents' arms it's found,
A bond unbroken, firm and true, in love's eternal round.

With eyes aglow, the child beholds the world's majestic scene,
Each leaf and stone, a tale untold, each hillside, lush and green.
A heart that beats with wonder's drum, a soul that soars on high,
In every moment's fleeting breath, a dream that will not die.

Love's tender seed within them blooms, untouched by sorrow's sting,
A fountain of unguarded joy, from which all kindness springs.
They care for all, the great and small, in every creature's plight,
Their empathy, a beacon bright, that pierces through the night.

A question here, a query there, "Why?" and "What if?" they cry,
Their minds a thirsting chalice, ne'er to let the well run dry.
Yet mischief oft will lead astray, to danger's lurking door,
A gentle hand, a whispered word, and safety's theirs once more.

Forgiveness flows like morning dew, upon the rose's cheek,
With every slight, they turn anew, no vengeance do they seek.
Innocence, their regal cloak, in truth's pure light arrayed,
No fear of judgment's scornful yoke, their spirits unafraid.

So let us learn from these young hearts, that beat without a care,
To live, to love, to laugh, to dream, to breathe the freeborn air.
For in the child, we see reflected, what we ought to be,
Unfettered souls, in life's grand play, forever wild and free.
