POEM: PROPERTY LINES
Outside...
The branches of forgotten errands
Scheduled for the cold rest
With the leaves of pages
They disparately hold
The deciduous deadlines
Freeze to the ground
Reminding their debtors
Of freedom’s degrees
Inside...
The spirits here sit on smiles
They dance on sweaters
And wooly tiles
They are nude by the fire
Between shadows and flashes
This season-less spirit
Brightens us still
