Consumption Conundrum
Nature as brutal
As it is beautiful
Desiring neither the arctic wolf’s starvation
Nor the consumption of the caribou calf
I am presented with a conundrum
Of cruel nature
Of course the choice
Is not mine to make
Dog will eat dog
Dog will starve
Dog will drown
And I, human obsessed with
Comfort and ease
Have escaped the ordeal of
Hunt
Or be hunted
And watch from the comfort of my living room
Where nature will not find me
