Anguish

Something is wrong with the world today
All happiness and peace has faded away
The sky is dark and full of pain
And with this anguish flows forth the rain
The lightning lashes
Burning life to hopeless embers and worthless ashes

Your smile has long dissipated
Your sorrows emancipated
All you’ve held inside
Everything you tried to hide
Comes tearing from your soul
The whole world lines up for the toll

Our sunshine burns dim
Our fate hangs on a limb
Will you cry once more?
Is it time to close the door?
Leave the world behind
Let silence ease your mind
