Watery end
When the flood comes, that final wave,
when the network is down, when there's nothing let to save,
when the sun is so hot that nothing else grows,
when the weather has killed off our information flows,
when my child and grandchild have run for the mountains,
to search for mythical food and magical fountains,
when the cats and dogs and rats and raccoons
have nibbled on the skulls of the bosses and buffoons,
when the very last orgasm has sent the very last shiver,
when Eros has forever emptied his quiver,
when we're alone on a tiny bar of sand,
you'll give me a look, I'll give you my hand,
the final wave will send us down into the deep,
you give me a last grin, and that's what I'll keep,
as we drown painlessly in the tropical sea,
as we dissolve into salt, turn into fish food, just you and me
together our skeletons collapse, turn into a reef
we'll never again worry if we ate too much beef
we'll become one with our stuff, the phones and the guns,
the toys and the shoes, the guitars and the drums,
we'll turn into a rock, we'll become a new home,
atoms recycled, they were only on loan.
