INTO HIS PRESENCE

Standing between the Pillars of Creation,
Where light is birthed at the voice of Infinite Grandeur,
I find myself compelled to surrender with abandon
To the outward, away from the turmoil within
Where the soul of a man, trapped, twisted and twined with
Hope and Despair, Joy and Sorrow, maddening dance
Of mortal chaos, searches deep for the mystery of Existence.
For my soul is borne on the wings of a blessed Song,
That fills the heart with light reminiscent of creation,
A Strain too great for representation, imitation by
The confined strings of mortal lays and tongues of minstrels.
An invisible tune bearing me surely, unerringly,
To Your gates.

Stepping between the posts
Of the imperious massive portals, like a child,
Expectant and afraid of the Wondrous Unknown,
While the crystals and ceruleans, verdures and vermilions
Of creation fade to a misty insubstantial hue
Shut out by the escalating wonder of the moment,
I realize I am encompassed by a unique idea of creation
Too wonderful for the trepidation of my beating heart.
Oh God! It is enough! Let me stay here like Peter,
Never to leave this newfound haven of bliss.
Yet I seem to perceive a beckoning from deep within
The blinding glory before me, and enchanted now, I venture
Into Your courts.

Crossing the threshold between worlds,

Where the earthly joys and cares no longer have weight,
My soul bursts free of its bonds, and soars higher in winding circles
Drawn by the lure of the Source that calls me thence.
Enthralled by a sensation that defies human expression,
I rise on the breeze of the seraphic notes of Worship,
The Heaven-spawned tune that engineered my flight,
To the place where gloom and shadows fade,
And Night is rendered bright as the light of eternal Day,
Where crowns are cast and palms are waved
In the Throne Room of the Sovereign Majesty of the King.
Into the glory that confounds, into the splendor that surrounds,
Into the Presence!
