Why Did You Trust Me?

It's 3am and you lie there in bed wondering why I've left you feeling devastated

How could this have happened after all we've accomplished together

Although you knew my past, you believed it'd be different for us

You thought that we were the ones who were meant to be together and the rest were just mistakes

All the facts were disclosed in the beginning but you chose to ignore them

Why would I love you the same way you loved me

We are not and never will be equal

I've built many others up to the status of royalty and burned them alive

Facilitated prosperity in major epicenters of life and left them in rubble

Garnered epiphanies in the brilliant as if I were a muse and then robbed them of their dignity

Stirred the pot that kept the disabled alive and suffering until their brutal demise

I leave you with a smirk on my face and I await your next move

But we all know that my unbelievable patience can bleed out any opponent

Why did you trust me?

Why did you think it'd be different?

I await your call in hopes that you will misunderstand me again and turn yourself over to me once more

The only thing that I crave is your ultimate departure
