"Time" - A Concrete Poem
TIME: the continuum of experience in which events pass
from the future through the present to the past. It’s a gift
that keeps on giving with adventures to be wrought.
Relationships are built and success is achieved:
weddings, parties, promotions and change.
In this humongous world, anyone
can make a difference,
but all you
need is
TIME:
the creation
that steals your life
and breaks your heart.
Friends leave, people lie.
Some run out of TIME before others,
crying and screaming for those they lost;
alone, cracked, lifeless in other desperate eyes.
We spend the TIME to compare ourselves to others,
instead of finding the beauty and uniqueness we have.
This supposed map doesn’t find, but it loses memories, people, joy, TIME.
I wrote this concrete poem in my Creative Writing class last fall. Within the class, each student would write a poem and we would hold a meeting called "Writing Workshop", where the other students would give constructive criticism to the author. Through the feedback we were able to revise our poetry and short stories to make an improved final draft.

Time is a gift from God and we will be expected to be good stewards of are time. Did we use it wisely or did we squander it?

Thank you! I love concrete poems, because they can form anything. Most are difficult to make on a computer, but hourglasses are pretty simple :)
I remember I saw such poems only at school classes:) And yours is the first one since then, and lots of years passed:)
