To Be Human
Where being human is to hate purely on the faulty colour of one's skin; If such anger can be pointed to those who are not our artificial kin
When one plows his car through the chorus of laughter, and a child is buried under rubble due to arrogance trying to survive the hereafter
Where humans choose to elect a racist to promote freedom, in a world where genocide is thought to be martyrdom
Where we are happy to blame a billion, due to the faults of a minion led by a flawed opinion
Where the audacity of being born a female is a death sentence for some, prison for others and badluck for all
Where one can become a millionaire with a sextape, and others seek fame for forcible rape
Where blind denial about the devastation of the land can be debated; all in the meanwhile, the planet remains sedated, even after all the facts have been stated
When we build walls to keep out the needy, and promote palaces for the wealthy... You tell me, who's greedy?
Where humans hate of those caught in cycles of neglect, and due to prior prejudices can all spot a likely suspect
Where hate is ingrained in those pure of heart, and liberals fear from being labelled caring and smart
If this is what it takes to be a human, the real meaning of being a true man
Might be a monster and perhaps quite rightly so
But it is the human I fear most, for they are the cause of all my sorrow.
