Mother Earth's breast felt a pang,

A star burnt upon it,

This light by God's left hand,

Twirled and twisted, fought and gasped,

Out of the soil,

She came at last.

Out from the deep and magical groves,

To work within us,

A spark and a kiss.

Through dense grasses, leaves and stalks,

The faerie moves among us,

Flying into our eyes at night,

Tending the dewy ground below us.

Known more to the wild and pure of heart,

A children's game and work of art.

Love and kindness, neat and tidy.

Skimmy wings of silver and gold.

Vain and pretty,

Small and mighty,

So all of Gaia should behold,

That which is ancient, pure and good,

Not lost from the heavens as they say she should.
