Rupi Kaur
Yesterday I posted a poem by this great woman, today I share one by her that touches me deeply.
Like I stated in yesterday's post, I feel ashamed to admit that I have not read much of her work but I have been reading a lot of her work ever since.
I am amazed by her poetry. This isn't really a poem but that also depends on how you read it. To me, it's art.
I have made clear in previous posts that I lack experience in certain departments and this one teaches me something new in the beauty of love and hurt.
Although, I have yet to fully experience love, I believe my appreciation for humble souls gives me somewhat of a connection to that level of bliss.
As some of you may know I love music, deeply. It's therapeutic to me and without it I would be lost in limbo. Music and poetry are my drugs.
I can't imagine what my days and nights would be like if they were stripped from me.
Love for music obviously differs from that love for a partner but I connect both to the fact that both must be appreciated and respected.
Having someone mean so much to you and giving your all to that one being is precious; having that reciprocated makes everything feel balanced, making you feel like you're breathing in the purest of air. Having a common ground of respect, understanding, patience, and love is what I believe makes a relationship last.
Unfortunately, it doesn't always pan out that way. That may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. At the end of the day, you must love yourself and know your worth.
Someone may love you, yet they may never actually demonstrate it or give it unconditionally.
From what I understand from this beautiful quote from Rupi Kaur is that; sometimes people are too blind to see your love, too deaf to hear your heart beat every single letter of their name, too cold to feel the warmth in your skin.
So, love yourself first and people will fall in love with the great you are or will become.
"I was music but you had your ears cut off"
