Periphery
I lie just outside your vision,
in your periphery.
I hide inside the shadows,
just beyond where you can see.
In the evil you imagine,
paranoid fear and dread.
The thoughts that always linger,
in the recesses of your head
I'll torment you in silence,
I'll never leave you be,
since I am deep within you,
all you don't want to see.
You can avoid my whispers,
at least for most the day.
But when all falls still and quiet,
you won't keep me at bay.
I will slowly drive you mad,
so try not to let me in.
but we both know that it is futile,
we both know that I will win.
So now ask yourself this question,
the one that haunts your sleep.
Am I just a part of you,
or are you just a part of me?
This poem reminds me of that TV show, Legion. It's like David and Lenny.
