So little, yet so much

Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile - Albert Einstein

This was something I wrote when I was broken and tired, when I felt the whole world was caving in on me. All that got me through this period were the little acts of kindness and care I got from people around me.

This might not be an awesome piece of poetry but all that matters is the message. Sometimes we selfishly go about our daily activities forgetting that out first call of duty is to humanity. We seem to forget that what would be left long after we're gone are our actions, our impartations in the lives of those we meet. All we care about is ourselves. It is understandable though given the pressure continually placed on us by the society to succeed but I do not believe success is a measure of how rich you are but rather how rich your life has been, and our lives become rich only when we care, if only a little about others.

So many acts of war that could have been averted, countless suicide attempts stopped if only we cared a bit more. We'd be amazed at how a little compliment could lift up a weary soul, we'd be shocked at how a little gift could bring hope to to a downcast spirit, we'd be surprised how a little hug could make a person's day a whole lot. If we cared a little more we would be left in awe at how much better the world could be.

Though it might seem so little, I have come to realize overtime that at the darkest times and most perilous moments so little could mean so much.
