The Search for Snow (Part 3 of 9)
More than a month ago, I returned from a trip to South Korea. Buried beneath this poem is a simple message that I wanted to will to the universe. This is part three of my nine-part love letter to the land of the morning calm.
Near the spot where everything occurred
Out of the ashes that littered the ground
Roars from days past could still be heard
Trembling, echoing, without a sound
Hostilities were at an impasse
Against overwhelming adversity
Neither bending nor breaking
Desperate souls hold on to hope
Searching for the path that would lead them to peace
Over the blood spilled and tears about to burst
Undaunted, they powered through, refusing to cease
Through the veil for which they were accursed
Hearts exposed for the world to see
United they stood, hand clasping hand
Near the place where everything was offered
Into the unknown, exactly as planned
The faint sound of hope could be heard
Everything in it's own time
No reversal shenanigans in this acrostic poem, only a powerful wish. Oh, wait... did I just bury the lead?

한국, 정말 고마워요!
Look no further than @lukestokes.mhth to solve your STEEM woes. Help keep him as a top witness to keep the STEEM flowing :D
Mr Variety strikes again. Another genre and style and nicely done. The message of hope flows through, and sits will with the acrostic wording chosen.
But just in case I did check it in reverse. Can't be too careful.
I would say that the title of "Mr. Variety" still belongs to @therealpaul, but I would gladly accept the moniker of "Kid Variety" ;) I'm glad that you liked it, mate! I was a bit wary of posting this yesterday because you had just posted that heartrending poetry earlier. But, this was what was scheduled so I bit the bullet. I didn't think it would hold a candle to your "Not Today" poem, but I just hope that it served as a complement to it. The compliments are very much appreciated!
Now, I feel like everyone should check the reverse, inverse, sideways, etc of everything I do. I do like to pepper in those kinds of easter eggs. Fun fact, I do that with all of the letters I give to my lady haha!
I heard that! I appreciate it, and there are a variety of ways I could respond, but alas it is late.
Go get those Zzz, dude! You deserve every single one!
I have always been fond of a good acrostic and this most certainly is one! I do like that last verse partially. The faint sound of hope...
Top Dawg!
No, you the Top Donk! Oh wait, you said dawg! Awoo awoooohooo! Always awesome to get the Boomer's Seal of Approval! I'm sure the last verse likes you even more. Heck, if you're not happily married, I would've happily introduced the two of you. I'm sure you would've hit it off and would've made sweet, sweet poetry together!
Getting back from my business trip and i find this amazing piece. Right on the 3 of 9.
So, this is already a great return! :)
Awesome! I'm glad that this post was a destination for you when you returned! Doubly happy that it was received well. I appreciate you stopping by!
Do you know what is best to read? is to be able to understand every word of the story as if the reader was telling it, it is nice to feel that in your writings! Nice
Awww thank you! I'm glad you received it that way. It was the intention! I appreciate you stopping by and saying these wonderful things!
The poem is incredible, but I confess that I read this last night and didn't respond because I was hoping the day would expose it's secrets to me. Alas, it has not. I can't help but view it as them standing on the precipice of the next life- a gorgeous way to end it :)
DING! DING!! DING!!!
When it comes to interpretation, I always lean towards there being an infinite number of explanations. It's all based on the viewers perception, after all. But, this goes hand in hand with how I envisioned the setting went. I never doubted how in sync we are, sis :) Also, you might want to read the first letter of every line vertically :D
That was a nice poem, made some pretty clear imagery in my overactive imagination. I did read down first though, those strong letters caught my eye XP
I had it in bold so that no one would miss it haha! I'm not leaving too much interpretation on that front. But, the poem has a lot of subtleties in the words and the arrangement. It's like a cryptopuzzle haha! Are you able to spot all of the clues!?
Nope. Though my sister and I were talking about the winter olympics opening ceremony (she makes a point to watch these things and while I will watch these things if I catch them I don't really go out of my way) and she mentioned that Korea came in under one flag as just Korea and I made a joke about them quietly sticking it to their respective governments. And that only vaguely related snippet is all you're going to get out of me for this one ;D
The unification flag does come into play in a future art >.< Thanks for spoiling it! :/ Hahaha!
Did you see that skater who had a wardrobe malfunction? It was all over the search results when I was grabbing photos for the art haha!
I'm sooorrrryyyyyyyy (again!) XD Maybe I should just...never say anything about anything XD LoL!
No, no, no, no, no. No. Never stop saying stuff about anything. You're filled to the brim with awesomesauce, mateychops!
Awesome Poem...
Thanks for the compliment and upvote!
Am sure hope is born and hope is alive, as long as there's life, as long as there are people, there's hope.
That is the hope! I fully agree with your sentiments!
Was it that bad over there?
Hmm? Well, it's the feeling that the place evokes. Based on the stories, it was a horrible time, talking about the Korean War. These days, it's mostly quiet in the DMZ. Everyone's on high alert though in case war breaks out.
I meant on your trip. Otherwise, any and every war is horrible. But I guess, unless the Northern brother kidnaps the Southern one on his visit, I doubt any war would occur. It was scarring off the potential Olympics visitors and more of an economic warfare. But the tension in ther air isn't a pleasat thing.
Hmm? Oh, the trip was fantastic. South Korea's very clean and vibrant.
nice explanation as well as clear understanding. good writing
I'm not quite sure what I explained, but thanks for the compliment. It would've been cool if you would've spared a vote if you liked the post.
