What is Agriculture?

Is the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products.

According to GEORGE WASHINGTON, agriculture is the most healthful, most noble employment for man.

Agriculture was the key development in the rise to sedentary human civilization, whereby farming of domesticated species created food surpluses that nurtured the development of civilization.

"Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from the corn field"(President Dwight D. Eisenhower)

Agricultural food production and water management are increasingly becoming global issues that are fostering debate on a number of fronts.

Agriculture is composed of five specialized branches. The five branches are:

  1. Agronomy: This deals with soil management and the growing of crops.

  2. Horticulture: Horticulture deals with the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, and ornamental crops. Ornamental crops such as flowers could be used for decorations.

  3. Agricultural Engineering: Agricultural engineering involves knowledge of farm machines and equipments. It also deals with developing new systems and ideas to solving problems involved in agriculture.

  4. Agricultural Economics; Agricultural Economics deals with the how businesses should be ran to yield profits from agricultural products.

  5. Animal Science: Animal Science is basically the breeding and management of animal for specific purposes, such as for their meat, milk and/or fur.

Every single thought in life is like a seed. It needs to be sprouted with actions. A dormant seed would never become a giant tree.
