This poem was inspired by the state of affairs in New Zealand while we await the final results of our General Election

A trip through the bush, we'll be 'right
A dip in a river of swimmable shite
While our youth, sadly, take their final flight
From mental health issues with no respite
While others ignore and revel in delight
Justice dispensed by posturing, faux-knights
As society runs to surrender its rights
And the boomers sit, still flexing their might
While our Government lies, misleads all in sight
Less people left to take up the fight.
Generations being dispossessed
Existential crisis and brewing unrest
Age, race, sex. Now things to detest
Information and misinformation. Free to ingest
Many feeling hopeless, lost and bereft
Homeless. Alone, in their cars they wept
Immigrants. Hated and accused of theft
Wage gap? Growing, becoming a cleft
Citizens are tenants, treated as a guest
Pushed down and walked over until there's no-one left.
