THE GHOSTLY QUEEN
She is a very beautiful ghost
In her flowing veil she could pass as party host
Also, a very feminine posture she does display
On high-heeled shoes her curvy hips do sway...
Several long-forgotten centuries ago
Her virtue to the devil she did throw
She had been married to a fat and brutal king
Forced by her father to accept the ring.
She tried for many gruesome years
To hide her discomfort and her fears
Till came that spring when a handsome, young knight
Passed daily, on his white horse, the castle’s site.
Had she known it was the devil, dressed as knight
Her future on different course one would find.
Since then when the king asked for his nightly right
The stately horseman was on the queen’s mind.
Now queen, she was expected to be above reproach
Had to smile when seen with the king in the royal coach.
Of the horseman she dreamt and secretly sobbed.
Felt brutally against her will of her virginity robbed.
The day when the roses in the yard began to bloom
The queen strongly felt the unbearable doom.
When again, as fair prince the devil passed the castle gate
Deceived, the queen did meet her future fate..
Caught in her misery, by the devil she was seduced
Had she known it was Satan she would have refused
God had mercy on her and saved her from hell
But she had to pay for having succumbed to evil’s spell.
As ghost she will have to “half an eternity” spend
One wonders what with “half an eternity” is meant.
So, year after year on Halloween she can be seen
Where once she reigned as desperate queen..

She was a very beautiful ghost
In her flowing veil she could pass as gala party host
Also a very feminine posture she does display
When on tiny high-heeled feet with curvy hips one sees her sway
.
Several bygone centuries ago
Her virtue to the devil she did throw
Being married to a fat, ugly and brutal king
After she had been forced by her father to accept the ring.
She tried for many gruesome years
To hide her discomfort and her fears
Then a handsome, young and tempting knight
Passed daily on a white horse the castle site.
Since then when the king asked for his nightly right
The stately horseman was on the queen’s mind.
Morals at those times were very strict
If broken the rule as "whore" one became evict.
As queen even more so you were expected
To be above all reproach
Now she had to smile and wave when traveling with the king
Through public in the royal coach.
Secretly she cried and sobbed
Felt brutally against her will of her virginity robbed.
On the day when the roses in the castle’s yard
Began to bloom
The queen again felt the unbearable doom.
That day the devil as prince passed the castle gate
Deceived, the queen did meet her fate
When by the devil she was seduced
Had she known it was Satan she would have refused.
God had mercy on her and saved her from hell
But she became subject to the evil spell
As ghost she will have to "half an eternity" spend
One wonders what with "half an eternity" is meant.
So year after year on Halloween she can be seen
Where once she reigned as desperate queen.
