I am Like a Kite

I am like a kite.
I fly. In the air. In the skies.
I feel the gustiness up there.
I see the birds above.

I am like a kite.
I can only fly as high as the length of my string.
I could fall anytime.
I could defy gravity, but I could also go down.

I am like a kite.
And you are my owner.
You hold my string. You control me.
You just got a hold, and you could just let loose.

Like a kite, I will fly the way you make me.
My strings are strong and would not break,
But I could get lost if you let my strings go.
No matter how strong, I cannot do more.
I have endured a lot of gusts up there,
I have no more strength to stay.

And once I fall to the ground, we will see
If it would still be you who will pick me.
But it could also be that
Somebody else has me and made me fly once more.
And it would be too late for you.
You see, I cannot break my string from him
Because my string is strong
And in his strong grips, I'll know I belong.

I am like a kite.
You are my owner. For now. Or forever.
It depends on how hard you hold my string.
