The Shadow [Poem]

The shadow is the trail.
It lives with us no matter when we fail;
on the inside it cannot be seen
for only outside it is keen.

The shadow is the proof
for ones image is aloof;
we fail to realize this truth
only because we live uncouth.

Take the test if you will
live the step standing still;
you will see the fight
for it lives within the night.
