A Game of One's and Zeroes
In the war of the keyboards,
Anonymity played it's part,
A dynamic headline,
A few clicks,
And they had you reeled in,
A gateway to a different window,
But no air came since,
No light either,
Cookies to cookies,
They had you trapped,
Fed you narratives,
Then you were fed to one,
Zoo-keeps keeping your secret,
Shhh! I know your secrets,
So I'd go incognito
We know who you are,
Cookies for breakfast,
Crumbs for lunch,
Maybe and just maybe,
Just a bit of a lengthy hunch,
Your choices may be predestined,
Your life too,
Written,
Screen-playing, without your permission,
Algorithms feeding your thirst,
Enslaved by our own creations,
Narcissus was a cautionary tale,
But you love yourself,
And treated it like your holy grail,
Truth! Whatever it is,
Here lies a troll,
Click on this, click on that,
Like this and like that,
Think this and think that,
Buy this and buy that,
A game of ones and zeroes,
Black and white,
Man made machine,
In its own image,
To boldly go…
Oh look at it go,
Our choices are predestined,
Do you even have a say?
I believe in disbelief,
Who is this 'I'?
Is it free?
Maybe, I was me?
A program built by another program?
A code,
A sequence of one's and zeroes
Put together like a web-site,
Like a web-site.
