Ocala Prophets

Ever slowly,
The boat crawls between
singing waters.
The sun,
Sinking below the endless
line of longleaf pine and mangrove,
Grasps at what little reflections
it can still reach.
The cat-tails dance,
So that their bodies
whistle in the storm-carrying wind.

The rain falls,
And my hat becomes a tin roof.
My visions
burn the sky,
So as to carve a path
where the rain will not fall.
The Great Blue Herons and
diving Cormorants
cast shadows,
Like the pitch-black sun of damnation
that falls on unsuspecting minnows.

I do not fear the King of the Ocala,
The great Alligator.
Both our eyes have fallen
on the same prophecies:
The ancient springs here
rise on blessed land,
And we are both
mere visitors.

Hey man, I paid you a little lip service here.

Hope you don't mind =)

Very interesting poem. I love the reverence for nature, and subtle understanding conveyed by the tone.

This poem really shows your respect for nature in a great way (if I got it right).
I really like your style of writing. Even though I often have to read it more than three times to understand everything since English is not my first language and I have to translate certain words to German :D. But your diverse use of words just shows me how much more there is to learn for me so I can understand the true meaning of poems in this language.
Keep on writing such great poems! :)

Wow, I appreciate your persistence! Your attitude in the face of a challenge is admirable. Many thanks!

I'm not a huge fan of Florida, because of the humidity, but I always enjoy myself down there. Such a diverse ecosystem.

Really nice poem as well.

Yeah... I wouldn't really want to live there honestly. Not with the mosquitoes and abominable turnpikes lying in wait to catch you off guard, etc., etc.
