HEARTBREAK

in #poetry6 years ago

I am garbed with ten letters
Of the English alphabets.
Deep-seated in the catacombs
Of embittered hearts

Letters
that leap from the alphabets' realm
Into a word striving to detail the
other essence of heart ache
An oft-told tale of forlorn lovers

I am the pepper that thrives
In your wounds.
A dart to be later bellied by scars
On the Dartboard of your soul
Daring harbingers of memories
Unutterable

I am that soleful tune afloat
In sonorous dirges that hang
From the lips of your ex,
Singing Temper Trap's "love lost"
A herald of tears every night.

I am the death that kills your joy
when it attains its prime.
I am that pain; that steals
Your affections
When emotions are high.

I am heartbreak.
Your current companion
Your only obligation is to feel me
When I come.

Thanks brother. But my heart ain't broken o

Really poignant, man. Brings back old memories and tinges of pain. Truly:

They say that time's heals...
But the sorrows and tears of yesteryears,
They twixt my heartstrings yet..

(George Orwell)
