RE: TODAY IS LABOR DAY!

in #poetry6 years ago

Hi. Am a bit delayed in my replies. Been busy with work related matters. I was able to post just once the past week and it felt good. Thanks for your visit and very profound contribution.

Anyway, we celebrate our Labor Day on May First. It's a legal national holiday so everyone can celebrate and honor all those who work in our country. Unfortunately, most leftist groups use this to their advantage by staging protest march and rallies to denounce what they perceive to be injustices done to the labor force. At times these rallies become violent and they disrupt what would otherwise be a joyous celebration.

But majority of the people don't join in the activities and instead go to the beach or to the mall for movie and food or just stay home to enjoy the holiday. It is not celebrated as much as Christmas Day or New Year or even Valentine's Day. It's a pity that only public school students are required to participate in the Labor Day parade under the heat of the sun.

I read that most countries celebrate Labor Day on May 1st. It is said that the celebration sometimes turns violent. The origins of the day was workers rights in this country. September was chosen, so there would be a holiday, while the weather is still nice. Many people here also go the beach or have cookouts.

I am glad that you are okay and have just been busy with work. I have missed a few post myself, take care of Mom.
