Gone to Waste with Haste
"Gone to Waste with Haste"
Beneath the autumn tree you stood
And I stood there hooked.
The warm air gently stroke your hair,
I wanted to move but I couldn't dare.
The bright ball of sunshine lit your lovely face
And so you moved to the shadows with grace.
It took all the courage I had
To make a step towards you so bad.
I simply had it in mind
That I had to be kind.
And I thought how much it'd impress you
But then my hopes flew.
A man had kissed you suddenly.
I was struck right there and then.
All my hopes and courage had gone to waste
And so I left the place with haste.
