Poem - Protest song: "The Human Craze"
"The Human Craze"

Crude as the oil we see our reflection
There lies the root of all our affliction
The greed, the easy direction we take
That fatally sets our destiny straight
Into wasteful depression
Inevitably we succumb to regression
With mirrors entertained
Into bitter consumption
Like natives when they let empty things stray
Their wisdom and care
For the seemingly plain
For paying with attention
Hollow we look away
We are held contempt
For our selfish disconnection
The frail will obey
A new drug will come to restrain
And corrupt our intentions
In mass, so they say
They want us to think is all a game
To trade our health for economic gain
We know they are overdue to pay
For burning our children's future away
While drowning us in diversion
Every 15 minutes, some one to their life puts an end
Soon suicide will be the number one cause of death
No surprise what we get
We surpass even cancer
We devolved into the disease
Now work for it
Killing away the planet and any
Chance for redemption
Every hour someone dulls their pain
Away from these things
As I once did
Tell me again how we are not doing this to ourselves
And how we are not a part of the earth
How we are some better thing
So smart just not enough to wake up
From this collective dream
To slim
Before we self destruct
Any mind out there who cares to think
For themselves please evoke your instinct
Don’t offer yourself to luck
Or jump on the first ship
That claims it has the magic fix
It might be leading us into another slave pit
While promising safe shore
The clowns and kings they mostly look to split
The dialogue and those who
Regardless of division, for understanding speak
Knowing that’s the only way to heal
When our empathy has fallen sick
And our ability to see ahead clouded by war
Our vision made too poor
Relative and bleak
The state can’t save us
Not Lenin’s Fascism or Hitler’s Communist reform
Or the imperialist hunger to everything own
With their crusades for omnipotent control
We have to reclaim the power
And the solutions become
I feel hope for every one I meet
I want to hear their story
To walk on their feet
Women or men, any friend
I won’t pretend your tragedy to understand
But let us meet tomorrow more as one
Less in vain, in the end
We all fall prey to sorrow
And time's heavy hand
