Is it ever worth it the demons to face?
We’ll face the demons faceless
And burn down our face,
For the demon stared at her
With gladness effaced;
Be proud at all times
And be full of grace.
Grace?
Why, the only grace I ever have known
Lived across the street,
Shaking her big ass all day
To a thought or to a beat.
And my own thoughts follow her;
No, not her big ass—
Of course that is not all Grace has—
No, not her breasts either,
Nor her bright face powdered,
No, not that, not her cold lonely smile.
My own thoughts follow,
Down these cold lonely mile,
Her youth, her essence, her bold stony guile.
—Grace, how fare you today?
My God how her eyes and cheeks are pale.
—I’m alright,
Just the heart,
It got broken again.
—They’re hopeless, these boys of nowadays.
Is it ever worth it the demons to face?
