"When the World Ends" - More Old Poetry

I wrote a lot of poetry back during my undergrad days, but once I found that I enjoyed doing fiction more, I never picked it back up (despite filling a huge notebook with well-transcribed versions along with accompanying images). Since Steemit seems to have a thriving (and growing) poetry community, I thought I'd add a little fuel to that particular fire. I hope you enjoy :)

The sun will go cold,
turning sunspots to frostbite
leaving hands too frozen
to hold others;
too busy keeping selves warm
rubbing belly and chest
in mock hunger for heat.
Video killed the radiation star
and they’re all aglow
thinking the sun
will warm up once again
with outstretched hands
of brittle-hot and skeptic rays
not wanting to stay
beneath the covers
of clouds blocking the stars
from seeing the mess we’ve made.
