They say I'm inferior, for my skin is the color of coal
But they're scared, for I'm brighter than them all
Amidst them, I stand mighty and tall
When I call, before me they all fall
They say I'm nothing but a slave
An entity, originating from a black cave
They envy how much I'm brave
And my company, they always crave
They say nothing is good in me
But all they fear is what I can be
I'm a vast limitless sea
They come to my shores and I set them free
They say I'm devoid of any history
All I were was a home for slavery
But how could they see with their vision blurry
That I've lived longer than any memory?
They say I'm but a black child
Yet on seeing me, even the moon smiled
For it has seen where beauty is filed
In me all greatness is compiled
I'm black for the sun kissed me most
How could it not when I'm her host?
When she sets, I give her my coast
And when dawn breaks, she calls me for a toast.
