The Blackbird
I am the bird that you so spot
In distant streets but you will not
Attempt to touch my pleading face
And when I get into your space
You walk away and will not stay
And even at the end of day
When air is dark and eyes are blind
You never really seem to find
The heart to touch my darling face
It doesn’t matter where the place
Or what the time that I appear
hope you know I’m always near
And so you do which wets my eyes
It doesn’t come as such surprise
And even though I love you so
You don’t love me and that I know
I will always let you be
And soon will have to let you free
