Find your passion
FIRE IN MY SOUL
You there, climber, tell me—as you hug the mountain’s edge,
Searching for a foothold farther up along the ledge,
Every muscle straining lest you lose your grip—
What keeps you going up there—ever up?
“Up…” returns the echo, then, bell-like from the height,
An answer comes: “Climbing is my passion, my delight!
Fuel in my engine, fire in my soul,
It’s a magnet’s pull, yes, a magnet’s pull.
“As a child I thrilled to tales of courage,
Loved to climb, adored geography,
Made a million maps, studied stars, fingered rocks,
In adulthood, searched and found anew:
These are things I love and want to do.
“When the wind comes tearing at my tent door,
When I’ve made mistakes and food is low,
When I lose my way, lose my courage, lose my sleep,
Still, in my distress, the same holds true:
This is what I love and want to do.”
“Do…” repeats the echo. The sun slips o’er the ridge
And bathes in sudden brightness the climber and the ledge.
“Find your passion… (passion… passion…)!” There’s my call.
That’s what changes all—yes, changes all.

Hello, again, everyone. Since I started out with a poem on a mountaineering theme, here's a second to go with it. I've had a lifelong passion for editing and word crafting, and I'm still pursuing it even now, here on Steemit and out in the world as I search for a new job. My route has taken me on detours and brought disappointments along the way. However, the tug is always there inside me, and I keep edging closer. Have any of you discovered a passion and pursued it? How did it go for you?
nice poem
