I Found Leonard Cohen

I found Leonard Cohen
rather late in my life.
I wish I had earlier,
may have had less strife.

For Leonard’s the man
who knew what is real
in love and in trial
that all of us feel.

He sang his poetry
a plain-talking way.
The Canadian Muse
had much more to say.

He taught me the mystery
of just passing through
the towers of song,
halleluiahs come true.

He climbed up in age
still singing his verse.
His gravely voice
none the worse.

I only wish that he
were heeded forever,
blessing us with songs
that were very clever.
