POEM / STAND UP FOR THE GIRLS

T he fairer sex they are called,
S ubjugated and treated like lollipop,
T o far and near their emotions flung,
U sed and disused like garbage,
S inew despite the barrage,
A nd the victimisation and discrimination subjected to,
T hey take themselves up and brave the challenges,
T he girls are worth standing up for.

T o the society i scowl,
U nable to repress and suppress my fierce growl,
I asked grilling questions which bother of "How"
T o salvage the humanity left of the communal bow,
W e must stand up for them,
B ecause they are worth standing up for.

I nsouciance many to the happenings turned,
K ith and kin off the hook they are concerned,
I n afflence we live, so such staved,
T he future secured, the delusional belief of their mien.
W hat if your children they are,
T he nibbling question inundating the satient,
I n such abyss you leave them?
T o wallow in such hollow shallow of painful retrospect.
B ut they are worth standing for.

W idow's mite a long way it goes,
C onscientizing the primitive cultural custodians of their ways,
A skew it has been, a change we must wrought,
O n the bandwagon of change we must buy, that is what we sought
T he status quo changed and lives made devoid of turbulence,
T he girls deserve our solidarity,
I n peace and mild protest, the upswell of the popularity,
T Hey are worth standing for,
S tand for the girls...they could be your relatives.
