Poem: The Edge of the Ordinary
The Edge of the Ordinary
Of roses, red roses appear red
Of violets, blue violets appear blue
But if you recite shit a dozen times
you might not notice what's true
The sun doesn't rise or set
The stairs don't go up but out
When viewed from space, your birth constellation
may resemble a double-tailed trout
There's still room for a magical vision,
creativity, awe-inspiring play
in the way we interpret the world
in the way we construct what we say
But to surpass the edge of the ordinary
adopt habits of critical-thinking
The best company will find you exquisitely delightful
even when they aren't smoking or drinking
