WIDE AWAKE
POETRY
Butterflies and birds dancing around
Sweet smell filling my nostrils
Sounds of appreciation
Of feelings deep in the ground
This wonderful place of old
That takes one back in time
Through memories that create smiles
More precious than silver and gold
A flicker of another place
No! I don't want to go there
This is where I want to be
A place with no worries
Where all wishes come true
And airplanes fly and dip
Another flicker of the damn place
Who could this be
Trees crumbling, birds falling, rivers on fire
Humph! I'm wide awake
