If the heart knew life's secrets here below,
At death 'twould know God's secrets too, I trow;
But, if you know naught here, while still yourself,
To-morrow, stripped of self, what can you know?
دل سِرِّ حیات اگر کَماهی دانست،
در مرگ هم اسرار الهی دانست؛
امروز که با خودی، ندانستی هیچ،
فردا که ز خود رَوی چه خواهی دانست؟

Omar Khayyám, was a Persian polymath, scholar, mathematician, astronomer, philosopher, and poet, widely considered to be one of the most influential thinkers of the Middle Ages. He also wrote numerous treatises on mechanics, geography, mineralogy, astronomy and music.
