THE MIGHTY HORSE

The horse is an animal of strength and power,
Running free hour after hour.
By the waters or on the land,
Standing tall and looking grand.
They roam in herds,
Free with the birds,
The Mustang leads,
Reaching great speeds.

From times of old, men horses have rode,
They helped to work and pull the load.
Plowing the land ready for crops,
The hard working horse he never stops.
The farmer and horse do round up the cows,
Scaring them with a yell they do rouse.

In the Wild West from the famous cowboy,
Who would show off his skills as his horse he’d employ.
To the Native Indians with their bow and arrow,
Riding along the cliff edge narrow.

The horse was also a prestigious pet,
Ridden by nobles and royalty since time onset.
Used in wartime – dressed for battle,
A mighty knight sat in the saddle.

The horse also drew along the carriage
On one’s special day of marriage.
They would pull the wagon to the market stall,
For the farmer to sell and the crowds enthrall.
In the days of old the wagon was transportation all,
No automobiles to get you home by nightfall.

Another use for the speedy horse,
Is downtown at the race course.
Many a gamble has been made,
Some who regret that they had played.
Still others dress their horse in braids,
Taught to dance and perform as trades.

Sometimes in the country, a property or farm,
Like to own horses just to add charm.
A very spoilt horse here may live,
Their only purpose is love to give.
Enjoying the shelter of the stable,
Willing to run when ever able.
To go for a ride just for fun,
Along the trail enjoying the sun.
