Poem: Prayer For A Friend

Complicated doesn’t even begin to explain her.
Daily she wakes up aggressively,
and everyone around is aware.

Move out of her way.
Let her pitch a fit,
till her morning grumpiness is at bay.

As fierce as her temper may be,
there is also a tender person
who feels emotions to the extreme.

She is generous.
Her need to help others,
makes her blind and oblivious.

It attracts people who take,
they always want and need
till the point of her break.

That’s what they do,
keep her in pieces.
Making her blue.

When her mood is up,
her charisma takes over
it’s almost too much.

She is still the funniest person in the room
and you cannot look away
it’s like a flower in full bloom.

Her mouth is full of four-letter words,
if you don’t like it,
she will flip you the bird.

However, when she sings
It’s like an angelic voice
that brings people to their knees.

Her choices for her life play it safe,
and unsafe at the same time.
Always keeping her in the same place.

She is so freaking bright.
Someone who doesn’t have to try
just learns things at first sight.

She is multi-talented
there is not much she cannot do,
but her talents are so fragmented.

Displaced by her self-tainted mess,
of bad choices and people
always creating distress.

She hides in this subpar lifestyle
because it is easier to shine
among the vile.

Not realizing she is being tarnished.
The bad choices and people
are making her stifled and suppressed.

If only she could believe
she is something great,
maybe she would live free.

Away from the bondage
of a lifestyle that holds her back
so, she can chase what she has actually wanted.

God give her the courage
take away the fear
that she won’t measure.

Let her walk away from a hard life
full of regret,
push her doubts aside.

I can guarantee
she would flourish
if she would just believe.

God let her escape
the self-inflicted prison
in which she is caged.
