RE: Congratulations to our 4 winners; you ran a fantastic race.
It was again very exciting and a lot of fun.
Unfortunately I didn't know about the new league and the competition until Friday. At the moment I am more busy with the current Diablo Season. After a short nap I did some research and decided for a duelist.
At the beginning the POE pages were hard to reach, so you couldn't really see what the others were playing.
In the beginning my duelist was also quite good in the race. In the end it became a bit too dangerous for me, so I parked the duelist and started a Templar.
@enjar was really fast with the duelist in the end, so I had to unpack it again. Then I tried to catch up with him, which finally ended in a RIP at such a fat witch. He had just reached level 44. But it wasn't that bad, because I wouldn't have been able to get @enjar anyway. :-)
Congratulations to all winners and thanks a lot for organizing @mattclarke!
I hope to get to know about it a little earlier next time. :-)
When I find time, I finish a video for Dtube, have recorded over 20 hours.
Yeah, D3 season timing seems to have gotten much closer to the start of the new PoE league this time around. It used to be almost perfect and I'd have done with D3 by the time race started. Not so much this time, but I did tell my regular player that I wouldn't be about yesterday to play because of PoE
I've not checked out D3 in a long time. You would think they would want there seasons to be no where near PoE's league starts.
I was hoping you would I was sadden to see you had died. I was over level farming a lower level zone playing it safe. While working on getting my gear, socket color, and gems better sorted out just in case. Thanks for the fun.
It was definitely a lot of fun and I had nothing to lose. :-)
Although I was quite a bit shocked when it suddenly hit me.
Having sent friend requests out last league to all that competed, it was considerably easier to see what others were playing this time around as I'd invariably check who was online and what they were playing. I only saw Linny playing witch though, and with her not being in the comp, completely missed that gamingchimp was playing one (along with all the other classes...)
This is an interesting possibility. I could require that all contestants befriend each other.
(I've only ever played solo). Can you foresee any downsides?
I don't really see a problem. The accounts are public anyway. And if you don't want that afterwards, you can simply end the friendship.
Exactly, I can't come up with any potential downside, only benefits. It would lead to simply checking the progression in-game rather than opening all contenders' PoE character page every 30-60 minutes. ^^
Upsides also include strengthening the community. You don't have to play with each other for there to be interest in how others are doing, what they're playing, what they're enjoying, and just conversations while playing.
I'd start with it being a suggestion, rather than requirement (and not sure how you'd enforce the requirement anyway...)
Cheers. If it weren't a condition of entry then anyone opting out would have an unfair advantage, though? In that other competitors would need to navigate out of the game to check on his/her progress?
I very much doubt it'd be a problem with our current entrants. You're all here for the love of the game.
(Less than $10 prize money for 24 hours of intense focus is hardly going to bring out the worst in people)
That said, if Steem hits $20, and each of the class prizes is worth $400; I'd rather not have people disadvantaged by their good sportsmanship.
If there's no technical reason that a player would be unable to send and receive friend requests and it makes the process easier for everyone, then I'd rather make it mandatory from the get go.
We still have a few months, though. I'm very much open to suggestions.
Yeah, I'll do that with the friendship request next time. You can follow the competitors much better.
I had also thought about the witch, but then decided for Templar as the second. The fact that @moon32walker already had a Templar with end 20, I also saw much too late. :-)
Better preparation next time! ;-)
