PMS- A BLESSED TIME

How often have you hated the time right before your period?
Have condemned the mood swings and irritations?
Have complained about physical pains and food cravings?
I myself have had my fair share of these symptoms, more often than I care to admit.
However a few years ago it all shifted when this time of the month flipped for me.
These symptoms took on another dimension to the extent of panic attacks and nervous breakdowns.
This is when I realized this can't be normal. I decided to see a therapist. And I was right. My body was ringing all the alarm bells, and during the time right before menstruation was the only time when my vulnerability was high enough that these signals would come through to me.
A marvelous journey began as I started to realize the value of what my body was communicating to me through these symptoms.
And it was exactly this vulnerability that I was so desperately trying to suppress, that put the writing blockages into my creative center.
Our body becomes so much more sensitive to all the sensations whether it is smell, sound, taste, touch or sight. Our senses when directed correctly can open us up to completely new worlds.
And once I let go of the irritation with my senses and directed them inward during this special time of the month, they actually started showing me poetic images that flowed through me in the form of writings.
I am not saying that this time of the month is always a piece of cake. However, I have much more appreciation for my most creative time of the month.
In fact sometimes I long for it, as the time before the premenstrual phase is usually very outward for me.
