Fat Fashion: Plus-size boots for fall

in #plus-size8 years ago

Ladies, we talked about this earlier, and I'd really hoped you'd learned your lesson...

but no. Some of you are still trying to wrangle your 30-inch wide calves into a pair of thigh-high boots.

I'm big too, so I'm not judging the fact that you've got larger legs. I'm not talking about size 12s either.

You 2x, 20+ size ladies know some styles just don't look good on us!

Now, I know, you may be saying, "I can wear whatever I want, and I look d-mn good doing it." You can lie to yourself if you want. Just know, no self-help mantra is going to make other people think you look sexy in those ham holders.

The tall boots? They are ugly on big girls. Need proof?

But, you say, those are all riding-style boots. Not fashion boots. Really, because here's what you're not thinking about...

This is a beautiful woman in a great outfit ... except for those weird looking boots that start out teeny tiny and slowly explode up her leg.

Even when done well, tall boots are not a big girl's friend.

I know, it's heartbreaking, but there is an alternative:

Ankle boots!!!

Check out the difference:

You may hate on me for giving this opinion, but it's true. If you're on the chunky side, stick to boots at or near the ankle. Thigh-highs and boots that rise above the knee don't just make your legs look extra-thick, they highlight this issue by grabbing people's attention. This is, of course, exacerbated when you layer with wool socks and the like.

I love you ladies and want you to look your absolute best -- which doesn't mean avoiding all the cute fashions. Just choose those that work for larger body types to get the full benefits.

Have any of your own do's (or don't's) for those of us of larger persuasions? I'd love to hear your fat fashion tips. Feel free to share them below!

I love you honesty, so refreshing in this so bland and boring PC world. I've been size 16 at my biggest size, the homemade wine story explains how I got there. No calf high boots for me! Aesthetically they do not compliment the line bigger bodies have. Ankle boots are the way to go! If I stay away from sugar I am a solid size ten by American sizes. My favorite style is the long sweaters with line hugging jeans or pants and an ankle boots. I don't like super high heels on plus size girls either, reminds me of balloons on a string...plus it's hard on the feet/back and hard to walk gracefully when carrying a lot of weight.

Thank you for the kind words, and I agree about high heels, at least, any style that makes your feet look small. That draws attention to everything that isn't, imo. I have to admit I'm at my heaviest right now and fitting into a size 20. Finding cool, comfortable clothing at this size is really tough.

I made my own clothes, luckily, my grandma taught me, screw the fashion industry, they are a heartless bunch of greedy guts anyway.

I love the last photo, so cute!

That last photo is so relaxed. I love it, too. :) Thanks!
