PLTMG Arun
Arun's PLTMG or Arun's Gas Engine Power Plant has 19 generating engines capable of producing 184 Megawatts (MW) of electricity. PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) built the Arun PLTMG at the end of 2013.
As quoted from PT PLN's press release, the construction of the Arun PLTMG is located in the area of PT Arun LNG, Lhokseumawe.
The construction of the power plant with an investment of around Rp35.4 billion and 81.2 million Euros is to strengthen Aceh's electricity system which is often subjected to an electricity crisis. Arun PLTMG obtains gas supply from Arta Gas Perta.
Since operating commercially on 21 December 2015, the Arun PLTMG has entered the 150 kV Sutet network of the North Sumatra interconnection electricity system.
The presence of PLTMG Arun is expected to be able to overcome the electricity crisis that has hit Aceh Province. Information obtained by acehkita.com, the current peak electricity usage reaches 337 megawatts. During this time, Aceh's electricity needs are supplied from the Nagan Raya PLTU (56.2 MW), the Lueng Bata PLTD (20 MW), and the Sumbagut interconnection amounting to 162 MW. []
