Greetings, everyone. Today is not a great day for harvests. My bean plants were already dead when we came back from Mazatlan, Sinaloa but the pods were still green. So I waited a few days until they dried out.
There were three pinto bean plants. The one I really was excited about was the black pinto bean. It looked almost like a black turtle bean but it was, in fact, an uncommon pinto bean. Unfortunately, this plant never even got to flower so I never got to see if it would give more all black beans.
The next plant, labeled "small pinto", gave me 5 normal looking pinto beans. They were a bit flat, probably due to the plant drying out prematurely. The same happened with some turtle beans last year back home that I didn't really water.
The next plant was another experimental one, labeled "spotless pinto". I always like planting the odd beans to see what I get.

Only two pods survived with a grand total of 4 beans.

At least they all came out spotless like I thought they would.
I can't wait to go back home where there are less pests and to continue my experiments that I left behind. One such experiment involved trying to irradiate some beans in an effort to induce mutations. We'll see how that one goes.
But until then, that's all, folks.
Thanks for visiting.
