Tahiti
Tahiti is the largest island in French Polynesia, archipelago south of the Pacific Ocean. In the form of 8, it is composed of two parts: Tahiti Nui (the largest section located to the west) and Tahiti Iti (the peninsula to the east). With its black sand beaches, lagoons, waterfalls and 2 extinct volcanoes, the island is a popular destination for holidays. Discovered by Captain James Cook in the 18th century, it appears on many paintings by the French painter Paul Gauguin.
