RE: Daily routine - day twenty - quick doodle of the day and old stuff
I haven't played Mutant: Year Zero as a video game, but I have the recent Modiphus roleplaying game (i.e. D&D style) and it's pretty good.
I've seen a little play, and it's very X-COM like, with some differences that I'm not really qualified to talk about because I'm not terribly familiar with it and I'm not hugely into X-COM.
I played d&d, alternity, star wars and some other pen and paper games and I must say it can't be compared to pc game. Especially if there are models and miniatures involved.
I can say that I prefer turn based combat/strategy games.
Alternity is one that I have never tried, but I keep hearing about and seeing in the local second-hand store.
I will say that there's a definite sense of possibility to roleplaying that doesn't match other games. Whenever I see first time roleplayers, I recall fond memories of my own early groups (which, admittedly, were far too large, so we got up to far too many shenanigans).
I'm not much into the combat/strategy games and miniatures, but I've always wanted to try them more. I was into Battletech years ago, but I never played seriously.
