Pituitary Gland
It is a secretory gland located in the lower part of the brain and plays an important role in the body. It is also called pituitary gland. It is as big as a pea and is connected to the intermediate brain with a stalk called infundibulum.
It has three lobes: anterior lobe gland, intermediate and posterior lobe nerve. The anterior lobe is all protein or glycoprotein and secretes a number of executive hormones. Thyroid, adrenal glands, glands, ovaries, such as the functioning of the glands and provides the necessary hormones.
The six main hormones secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary for this purpose; follicle stimulating hormone, ovarian stimulating hormone (gonadotropic hormone), milk production hormone, adrenocortic hormone (adrenocorticotropic hormone), thyroid stimulating hormone (thyrotropic hormone), growth hormone.
All vertebrate animals also have a pituitary gland. Excessive secretion of growth hormone during childhood causes overgrowth (pituitary giant), and less secretion of this hormone than normal causes small pituitary.
